How to Choose the Right RDP Location for Lower Latency

May 28, 2026 · Buy Admin RDP

One of the simplest ways to get a smoother remote desktop experience is to pick a server location close to where you — or the service you are working with — actually are. Latency is the delay between your action and the server’s response, and distance is one of its biggest causes.

Match the location to your goal

There are usually two questions worth asking:

  • Where am I physically? If you connect from Europe, a European region like Germany, the Netherlands, or the UK will feel snappier than a server on another continent.
  • Where does my work need to appear? If a task needs a local presence in a specific country, choose that country’s region — for example USA RDP for US-based work.

A quick rule of thumb

Closer is faster. The fewer miles your data travels, the lower the latency and the more responsive your session feels. When in doubt, start with the region nearest your physical location and adjust if your use case calls for somewhere else.
