Buy Czech Republic RDP: Prague and an exchange that reaches four countries

Prague is a strong central European choice, and the reason is a detail about its internet exchange that almost nobody mentions: NIX.CZ is not really a national exchange any more. It is a regional fabric with nodes in four countries, which means a Prague server reaches much of central Europe through a single peering relationship rather than several.

NIX.CZ was founded on 1 October 1996 by eight Czech companies and is organised as a professional association of legal entities rather than a commercial operator. It is the largest neutral exchange in the country, with over 200 connected networks and ports ranging from 1GE to 400GE, reachable from seven collocations in Prague. Then it expanded outward: it acquired SITELiX in Bratislava in 2015 and runs it as NIX.SK, added a Vienna node in 2021, and launched Frankfurt in late 2023.

Why the architecture matters

NIX.CZ rebuilt its platform from a virtualised star topology onto a leaf-spine design using VxLAN for network virtualisation and EVPN for routing management. That rebuild is what allowed the Bratislava, Vienna and Frankfurt locations to be integrated into one fabric and data flows to be optimised across them. The Prague and Bratislava nodes were interconnected in mid-2019 using two independent, topologically separated 100GE circuits — separate paths, not two strands in the same duct, which is the distinction that matters when someone digs through a cable. NIX.CZ has supported IPv6 peering since 2003, which is early by any standard.

Prague's position

Vienna is typically 10–16 ms away, Bratislava 10–18 ms, Frankfurt 12–20 ms, Warsaw 18–28 ms and Budapest 15–25 ms. That puts Prague comfortably inside the central European envelope while sitting in a market that generally prices below Frankfurt or Vienna. Czechia also has a second exchange worth knowing about: Peering.cz, established in 2013, spans ten data centres across Czechia, Slovakia, Austria and Germany with over 150 connected networks.

EU membership settles the compliance question

Czechia is an EU member state, so the GDPR applies directly, supervised by the Office for Personal Data Protection. EU personal data hosted in Prague never leaves the EEA, which means no adequacy decision to track, no Standard Contractual Clauses and no transfer impact assessment. If you want central European latency with EU-grade legal simplicity and without western European pricing, this is one of the better trades available.

Regional settings

Central European Time with daylight saving, DD.MM.YYYY dates, comma decimal separator, and a Czech QWERTZ-family layout that puts diacritics on the number row — which means typing digits requires Shift unless you switch to the Czech programmers' layout, something most developers working on Czech servers end up doing within the first hour.

Network

The network around Prague

NIX.CZ figures. The distinguishing feature is geographic: this is a four-country fabric rather than a purely national exchange.

GDPR in the Czech Republic

Czechia applies the GDPR as an EU member state, supervised by the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů), alongside national implementing legislation. Hosting EU personal data in Prague keeps it inside the EEA, so the international transfer question does not arise at all — no adequacy decision to monitor, no clauses to execute, no transfer impact assessment to maintain.

Your obligations are the standard set: a lawful basis for processing, purpose limitation and data minimisation, appropriate technical and organisational security, breach notification within 72 hours where the threshold is met, and a written processing agreement with anyone handling data on your behalf. As an EU member Czechia is also within scope of the NIS2 cybersecurity regime, so if your organisation falls into the essential or important entity categories, those obligations apply here as they would anywhere else in the union.

This is general information about the hosting location, not legal advice. Check your own obligations with a qualified adviser.

FAQs

Czech Republic RDP — questions answered

What is special about NIX.CZ?+

It stopped being a purely national exchange. NIX.CZ has integrated nodes in Bratislava since 2015, Vienna since 2021 and Frankfurt since late 2023, all on one leaf-spine VxLAN EVPN fabric — so a Prague server reaches much of central Europe through a single peering relationship rather than several separate ones.

Is Prague well connected to the rest of Europe?+

Comfortably. Vienna is typically 10–16 ms away, Bratislava 10–18 ms, Frankfurt 12–20 ms, Budapest 15–25 ms and Warsaw 18–28 ms. Prague sits inside the central European latency envelope while generally pricing below Frankfurt or Vienna, which for EU-bound workloads is one of the better trades available.

Do I get a dedicated IP with Czech Republic RDP?+

Yes — every Admin Czech Republic RDP plan includes a dedicated IPv4 with full administrator rights, so the machine behaves like a physical PC in Prague.

Which payment methods can I use?+

Card, PayPal, Bitcoin, USDT and Perfect Money are all supported, including private crypto options.

How quickly will I receive my Czech Republic RDP after payment?+

Setup is instant. Your Czech Republic RDP credentials are emailed automatically within a few minutes of payment confirmation.
